Beautiful Person, there are many things you can do for 30 minutes that will leave you feeling worse.

Scroll.
Read the news.
Think about everything you haven’t done.

Or you can breathe.

My new Monday morning series, ALIVE!, is deliberately short: 30 minutes of strong breathwork to start the week.

This is not six weeks of telling you to take one lovely deep breath and imagine a cloud.

We will work.

You do not need to be good at it.

You do not need previous experience.

You certainly do not need to look impressive while doing it.

And because I want these classes to be genuinely accessible:

Six classes cost £30.

That is £5 per class.

Mondays, 6–6.30am UK time, live online.

And yes, there are recordings. Because I am perfectly aware that some of you do not wish to encounter another human being at six o’clock in the morning. Even if that human is me.

If you have been curious about stronger breathwork but have never quite known where to begin, this is a very inexpensive place to start.

Learn more about my flagship, week long, workshop, Mastering the Addictive Personality: The Path Out of Hell, on my website: carolyncowan.com

The training is seven consecutive days from 7th-13th November, 9:30-17:00. You can join in person in Battersea London or do it all online. Or a mix.

It involves learning, lecture, groupwork, yoga and breathwork (used as tools for emotional regulation). Anyone who is a yoga teacher or other similar practitioner can take on a further exam, after the week, to certify to teach in prisons, rehabs, or do addiction and anxiety recovery classes themselves.

Not all breathwork is about calming yourself down.

Not all breathwork is about calming yourself down.

Sometimes I want to work with breath that is and wonderfully physical.

Breath of Fire. Pumping breaths. Rhythmic breaths. Practices that require your attention and bring you very firmly into your body.

And then, after great effort, we stop… the moments afterward are the most interesting part.

The mind has gone somewhere else. The body feels different. There can be stillness, clarity, energy, that fabulous post-breath buzz.

On my breathwork trainings I divide the breath broadly into calming and stimulating practices. Strong breathwork has a completely different personality. It asks more of you, and gives you a chance to discover what happens when you stay with yourself through the effort.

ALIVE! is my new six-week Monday morning breathwork series.

30 minutes.
6am UK time.
Live online, with recordings if 6am feels… offensive! (I am very much a morning person)

Six classes are £30, just £5 per class.

No previous breathwork experience is necessary.

My name is Carolyn Cowan and I am a psychotherapist who specialises in shame, trauma, hell states that manifest in all kinds of ways...

Shit happens and this, beautiful person, is all about what you do with it...

The Path Out of Hell: Mastering the Addictive Personality is a unique seven-day workshop.

Those interested in training with me in these realms are different.

I like that. It means that they can recognise suffering. In themselves, certainly. And perhaps also in the other..

Taking place over seven days in London, November 7-13, you can read more about it on my website.

Shame and addiction are very often entwined.

Not always obviously or in ways we expect.

Things we do compulsively: substances, behaviours, relationships, thoughts and patterns we return to again and again… they often have something underneath them that we are trying not to feel.

Shame.

My Shame Workshop and Mastering the Addictive Personality are completely separate workshops. You absolutely do not need to do one in order to do the other.

But they work beautifully hand in hand.

One explores shame: where it comes from, how it lives in the body, how it shapes our sense of self and what it means to begin loosening its grip.

The other looks at the addictive nature, the compulsions, obsessions and behaviours we use to manage ourselves, soothe ourselves, escape ourselves or survive what feels unbearable.

Different doors. Often into the same room.

Beginning a week on Tuesday, a series of six, strong, 60-minute, Kundalini Global yoga classes that play with the power of presence. My long-standing Tuesday morning class is now one hour long and booked in blocks of six. By popular demand, it will is also recorded.

Whilst I describe these hour-long classes as ‘strong’, there is a gentleness in their intention.

When I teach yoga online, globally, even though we can’t touch, we make extraordinary change via how the group energy has a butterfly effect.

We work hard in the class (though we laugh, experience stillness, do all kinds of things). Afterwards, each of us disperse from the class and move back out into our lives. We do so feeling and behaving differently. Being present.

Remember, beautiful person, your mat is a magical space.

When we can become still and present we’re capable of incredible transformation.

These 60-minute, classes will include breathwork, and a yoga series that is framed around an intention for each class. We will play with the Kundalini, we will create our own change.

Tuesday classes are now recorded, available via Vimeo until four weeks after the classes end. A new series will begin every six weeks. You can sign up at any time.

Just over £8 per class. Register on my website via the link in my bio.

Beautiful Person, this is why I teach yoga.

Not because becoming impressively bendy will somehow resolve the great mysteries of human existence…

I teach because I know from experience that your mat can become a place where you learn what is possible when you recognise the agency you have in changing how you feel.

Kundalini Rising is a series of six yoga classes, taught live on Zoom on Tuesday mornings, but also recorded for anyone who can’t make it live. The classes are available for ten weeks in total.

£8.33 per class. A great introduction to my style of teaching. No experience required. Do something amazing.

Life, and with it, yoga classes, has become very expensive. I want the classes I teach each week to remain something you can actually afford to do regularly.

Kundalini Rising is £50 for six one-hour Kundalini Global classes. That works out at £8.33 a class.

You can join me live on Zoom on Tuesday mornings, and every class is recorded. You have access to all six recordings throughout the series and for another four weeks afterwards, so you can catch up, repeat them, revisit the breathwork or simply do the whole thing again.

And there is something else that matters enormously to me: these classes have become a community.

People arrive early. We chat. We practise together. We laugh. Cameras can be on or off. You can be in London, Skegness, New York… in your bedroom in your pyjamas.

Great yoga. Excellent music. A lovely group of humans. Diverse. Welcoming. Low pressure, high impact.

It does not need to be complicated.

The next round of Kundalini Rising begins Tuesday 13 October at 9am UK time.

Six weeks. £50.

Beautiful Person, come and join us. Find details on my website via the link in my bio.

Shame is rarely obvious to us and often disguises itself as coping, pleasing, striving, controlling or disappearing. If any of that feels familiar, my shame workshop may be of interest. I only have a few places remaining. 16-18 October in Battersea, London.

Kundalini Rising Six Kundalini Global Yoga Classe

Kundalini Rising

Six Kundalini Global Yoga Classes
9:00-10:00am UK time, via Zoom & Recorded

13th, 20th, and 27th of October and the 3rd, 10th, and 17th of November 2026

Kundalini Rising is my regular Tuesday morning yoga class: one hour in which we come together to move, breathe, become present, and change something.

These are strong classes, but strength does not have to mean force.

We work with effort and stillness. Movement and breath. Intention, attention, laughter, resistance, possibility and rest. Each class is different, but the invitation remains the same: to meet yourself fully on the mat and notice what becomes possible when you stop abandoning the present moment.

In Kundalini Global, we work with a potent equation:

Posture + breath × intention = transformation.

The postures matter. The breath matters. But intention changes the practice from something you perform into something you inhabit.

Your mat becomes a place to explore how you respond to challenge. Where you hold back. Where you push too hard. What happens when you remain present instead of distracting, overriding or disappearing.

Beyond Shame: six evening classes: Yoga, Breathwork & Lecture. 18:30–20:00 UK time, via Zoom & Recorded

Shame does not always announce itself as shame.

Sometimes it sounds like:

Who do you think you are?

Don’t ask for too much.

Don’t take up too much space.

You should be grateful.

Other people deserve this more than you do.

Shame may manifest in the belief that there is something about you that needs to be hidden, improved, controlled or apologised for.

Often, it simply becomes the way you live.

Beyond Shame is a six-week exploration of what happens when we begin to loosen that grip.

These classes will invite you to become curious about the ways shame has shaped the body, the nervous system, our relationships, and our sense of what we are allowed to want.

New Classes: Alive!

Monday Morning Breathwork. 6:00-6:30am UK time via Zoom & Recorded

12, 19, 26 October and 2, 9, 16 November 2026

Breathe like you mean it, Beautiful Person.

Alive! is six weeks of strong, energising breathwork that will wake up the body, shift stagnant energy and bring you fully into the experience of being here. A sparkly way to begin your week.

Breathwork can be gentle and deeply calming, but it can also be powerful.

Powerful, rhythmic, physical and extraordinarily exhilarating.

These are those breaths.

Across six 30-minute Monday morning classes, we will explore stronger breathing practices: breaths that build heat, create energy, challenge habitual patterns and ask you to become completely present in your body.

Mastering Addiction – The Path Out of Hell 7th – 1

Mastering Addiction – The Path Out of Hell 7th – 13th November 2026

This course will be delivered both online AND in person at 5 The Old Laundry, Battersea, London SW11 1YF. 9.30am start and finish at 5.30pm with breaks for lunch and tea! all times are GMT. You can come in person, join online, or do a mix. The training is recorded.

A seven-day training exploring addiction, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, recovery and the possibility of profound personal change.

This is a week for understanding the addictive personality from the inside out but…

Not as a diagnosis, moral failing, or as something to be shamed, ‘fixed’ or hidden.

Addiction, anxiety, disorders of various kinds… they are a robust and intelligent set of behaviours, beliefs and survival strategies that were created in response to life.

Over seven days, I will guide you through a powerful exploration of what leads to the anxious and addictive nature, how it lives in the body and nervous system, and what it takes to move beyond the patterns that once helped you survive but may now keep you stuck.

This is a week of lecture, yoga, breathwork, group process, reflection and practice.

It is open to anyone interested in addiction, recovery, trauma, shame, anxiety, emotional regulation and the path towards greater freedom.

It is also open as a specialist training for yoga teachers and practitioners who want to understand how to support addiction and recovery through embodied practice.

7-13 November, in-person in Battersea and/or onlin

7-13 November, in-person in Battersea and/or online via Zoom. Mastering the Addictive Personality is probably my best known workshop, and one that gets incredible feedback year on year.

Seven days of learning, group-work, yoga (you don’t need any experience … it is within the days as a practice to help us stay regulated and put into practice some of the learning about how to change how you feel…)

This isn’t an invitation to trauma bond with a group of others with tricky stories and feelings. Indeed, there is no invitation to share your story. Instead, you will learn a lot about why you feel how you do, behave how you do, have the disorders that you do… and what you may choose to do with that via a new recovery plan that builds over the week.

The group is always fantastic. I find anyone who signs up to a course called The Path Out of Hell tends to be pretty cool and fascinating.
