Living Ritual
An Eight-Week Summer Practice with Carolyn Cowan

Every summer I step back from teaching live classes for a few weeks.

Over the years, I have often shared individual recordings from my archive during this time. This year, I wanted to create something different.

Living Ritual is an eight-week guided journey through some of my favourite breathwork and yoga practices, carefully selected to support you through the summer months.

Ritual is what we do repeatedly: the thoughts we start and end our days with, the way we speak to ourselves, practices we return to and a range of habits that shape our days.

Over eight weeks we will explore how small, consistent practices can help us return to ourselves again and again.

Each week, on a Monday morning, you will receive:

One breathwork class lasting 30 minutes,
One yoga practice,
A short reflection from me,
A question or theme to contemplate throughout the week.

I encourage you to respond to the emails and let me know your reflections on what we walk through.

You will get new content each week for eight weeks and the recordings will stay available until 1st September.

Together we will explore:

Week 1: Arriving

Before anything can change, we have to arrive. In a world that constantly pulls our attention away from ourselves, this first week is an invitation to slow down, come back into the body, and begin where you are. Not where you think you should be. Not where you were. Here.

Week 2:  Attention

What we repeatedly pay attention to shapes our experience of life. This week explores the relationship between attention, awareness and habit. We begin to notice where our energy goes, what occupies our minds, and what happens when we choose to direct our attention consciously.

Week 3: Acceptance

Acceptance is the willingness to see ourselves clearly and compassionately. This week is about meeting ourselves honestly, letting go of the struggle to be someone else, and exploring what becomes possible when we stop fighting what is.

Week 4: Courage

Courage is the willingness to remain present in the face of fear, discomfort and uncertainty. Through breath and practice, we explore how to stay connected to ourselves when life feels challenging.

Week 5: Fire

Fire is the energy of transformation. It can appear as anger, passion, vitality, creativity or determination. This week explores our relationship with this powerful life force and how to work with it consciously rather than suppressing it or being overwhelmed by it.

Week 6:  Devotion

Transformation rarely happens through a single insight. It happens through practice. This week is about commitment, consistency and the small rituals that shape a life. We explore what it means to devote ourselves to our wellbeing, our values and our growth.

Week 7: Connection

Human beings heal and flourish through connection. Connection to ourselves, to others, to nature, and for many of us, to something greater than ourselves. This week invites us to open the heart and remember that we do not walk through life alone.

Week 8: Integration

The final week is about bringing everything together. Rather than seeing practice as something separate from everyday life, we explore how to weave these teachings into our daily routines so that the ritual of practice becomes the practice of living.

I encourage you to create a simple ritual around your practice.

Light a candle.

Make a cup of tea.

Take a moment to arrive.

And then begin.

Living Ritual is an invitation to spend the summer in conscious practice… returning, again and again, to who you already are.
