Kundalini Global Yoga Teacher Training 2023

1269

In February 2020, I began teaching the first round of the Kundalini Global teacher training in Battersea, London. And then, well… the rest is herstory. I am so proud of all that we have achieved.

There are now over 45 active teachers out in the world sharing Kundalini Global. The classes are excellent, the feedback is phenomenal and, from here, the opportunities for change, for growth, as we continue, and as others join us, are great.

Since 2020 I have not only successfully taught my 220-hour teacher training, and seen many excellent teachers emerge, but we, as a group, have built an inclusive, supportive, community.

Kundalini Global is a new way. It is kind, it is well informed, it is, I believe, unique in all it offers in both the personal and professional, and in the support that is offered beyond those designated 220 hours.

The next training begins in May. Five modules over five, four-day, weekends. I thought I would write a little more about it here, for those who may be curious to know more.

Kundalini Global teacher, John Russell, shares some of his feedback on the training.

The Kundalini Global Manuals

I am asked often about the Kundalini Global manual. Will I sell it? What is in it? Can I take a look?

I wrote the manual for this training entirely from scratch. It is informed by decades of work in the field, indeed in fields beyond yoga, in my work as a psychotherapist and beyond, in the 30+ years I have spent exploring a huge assortment of forgotten religious and spiritual practices and belief systems.

The manual dives deeply into all key aspects of the training, from the esoteric to the scientific, through quantum fields, taking a hugely broad view of religion and religious thought, and has a wealth of information on hormones and the nervous system.

It further guides you through ritual and ceremony, from a wealth of traditions, through teaching skills and the huge raft of issues that come in there, from body fascism to understanding gender, alongside important discussion on the student teacher relationship, power dynamics, boundaries and much more.

Impossible to list all that you will find within the pages of your manual… and the manual is, in fact, manuals.

If you sign up for the training you can expect to start module one with two manuals in hand, one of theory, one practical, containing breaths, meditations, prayers, and a huge number of Kundalini Global yoga series.

It is only available to those who have signed up to the training, you will not find it, or any of its contents anywhere else. On graduation you receive a third manual, with more yoga series and breaths.

Professional Development and Your Career Beyond the Training

There are opportunities beyond the teacher training for career development, both in the support that graduates can expect from me, in supervision (more on that soon) and from peers and colleagues.

We have, over recent years, put on free weekend workshops, camping trips, and online events that showcase teachers and give opportunities to teach to larger audiences. We promote teachers via Kundalini Global social media platforms and support each other through things such as WhatsApp Groups (which are, of course, optional).

Beyond that, we have the opportunity to specialise in key aspects of Kundalini Global, such as working with the stress system, or including breathwork within the framework of a class, with further trainings such as Mastering the Addictive Personality and Altered States the Breath, both of which form part of Kundalini Global Level Two.

We also have a new Radically Inclusive Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training which is extremely excellent and adds another string to the bow of those standing up to serve in extremely tricky times, reaching out your hand to a group who really do need it.

On every training there is a huge mix of what participants are hoping to gain and wanting to do with it.

Some will already be yoga teachers, perhaps even Kundalini Yoga teachers, who want to explore new thought processes and consider a new approach.

Others will have practiced yoga personally and have made the brave decision that they would like, now, to teach. Some will say that they have no desire to teach, but simply want to broaden and deepen their own practice and understanding.

All are welcomed and all, I have seen many times over, benefit.

Amongst a huge assortment of participants, those who have done the training have included a priest, lawyers, brain scientists, therapists, professional sports people, astrologers, mothers, artists, dancers, people from all kinds of healing modalities…

How the training benefits each is, of course, personal. But change does always come. Everyone on the training will witness your transformation. It is a part of the process that is enriching for all… the joy of seeing transformation in the other, in the diverse mix of people who you will training alongside.

A Unique Part of Kundalini Global: Supervision for Teachers

If you have investigated training with me then you may be curious about a word that comes up … supervision. Supervision is a non-negotiable part of the training, with four hours of supervision on every four-day weekend.

Supervision, in this context, is a therapeutic word, used to describe a formal arrangement for a yoga teacher to discuss their work regularly with someone who is experienced in both teaching yoga and in supervision.

Supervision is support. Support that is profoundly needed because something very many people refuse to acknowledge is this:

Teaching yoga is not easy. Rewarding? Yes. Fun? It most definitely can be! But not easy, not for a nano-second.

The need to be reflective, to step out of self-obsession, to be aware of boundaries, the edges of the role… for me, it is vital. I believe that all yoga teachers should be supervised.

Supervision is an opportunity to discuss what is tripping you up… it could be anything from a tricky client to a specific aspect of teaching that you find triggering.

It could be that you notice that you never attract anyone who doesn’t look like you, relative to age, gender identity, race and ethnicity, gender preference… and would like to explore why that is and what you could do about it. Perhaps you want to discuss where you are not open-minded, to challenge unconscious bias, where your classes have become exclusive rather than inclusive.

There are millions of ‘things’ you could bring. Kundalini Global teachers are supervised on the training, by me, and offered supervision regularly beyond it. This is a commitment to our ethos, a commitment to inclusivity, a commitment to awareness, consciousness, and a commitment to yourself.

More about the training will be published here over coming weeks. The next training takes place from May, over five, four-day, weekends. It is in a hybrid format. You can attend entirely online, or come along to two in-person modules in May and September.

I will be hosting an event, soon, that you can come along to if you want to hear more from me about the training, have your questions answered, or just want to say hello and get to know me more. In the meantime, if you’re considering training with me, I would suggest you take a look at some of the resources available over on the Kundalini Global website:
