A Celebration of Vegetarian Cooking presented by Carolyn Cowan is a two part vegetarian cooking DVD series that introduces a variety of healthy and delicious seasonal recipes for all occasions.

Eating a wide range of foods is the key to having a healthy, balanced diet and the Sacred Chef series includes over 60 recipes from every day classics such as hummus and guacamole to inspirational ideas for tofu and grains, tasty sauces and dips, unusual salads, sugar free desserts, mouthwatering roast vegetables, refreshing juices and basics like sprouting and home made yoghurt.

People who eat a lot of fruit and vegetables may have a lower risk of illness, such as heart disease and some cancers. It is easier to build a nutritious diet from plant foods than from animal products, which contain saturated fat and cholesterol. These Sacred Chef DVDs offer ideas on how to expand one’s repertoire of vegetarian dishes so that getting the recommended ‘5 a day’ becomes an easy and enjoyable experience. Given the increasing awareness of the general public towards the global food crisis, food miles and the cost of eating meat, it’s certainly worth taking time to learn how to incorporate more vegetarian meals into one’s diet.

A vegetarian for 30 years, Carolyn shares her experiences of using fresh, locally sourced, ingredients to create wholesome and sustaining meals that are quick and affordable. Each recipe is a step-by-step visual guide – a private cooking lesson – with explanations of how to bring out the best in vegetables through their storage, preparation and cooking as well as how to use a blender, pressure cooker or rice cooker to simplify and speed up the cooking process.

For ease of reference, each recipe is available as a printable PDF with beautifully photographed ingredients and easy to read cooking instructions. The recipes include indicators for wheat free, sugar free, dairy free, low salt and low fat dietary requirements. The Dvd’s can be purchased onAmazon.co.uk and from the Devotion Emporium. There is also a selection of recipes to view on the Video Channel.
