  • Yoga & Shopping

I suggested the idea of a Yoga & Shopping trip to Jaipur last year and there was a lot of interest. I was unable to go through with it as my daughter was given a part in a film which has taken up monumental amounts of time over the past year. There is just one last block of filming to go and we are done, with the film launching in June 2011.

So I have come back round to the plan to run a Yoga & Shopping trip to Jaipur in late March.

5 days in Jaipur with yoga in the morning, a delicious breakfast, a shopping trip, lazy lunch, an adventure, meditation or chanting in the evening followed by a delicious supper somewhere…..

I would like to know how many of you would be interested. I am a Kundalini Yoga teacher. No previous experience of this form of yoga is needed for you to have a great time with it. Couples, partners, men and women, all welcome.

I am able to introduce you to great jewellers, tailors, silk merchants, clothes shops, cheap and sparkley bazaars, temples, restaurants…. a wonderful way to see Jaipur if you have never been and perhaps if you know it already, a different view.

I will sort out costs etc based on the response I get, and would ask that you take responsibility to get yourself to Jaipur. There are direct flights from all over the world. The drive from Delhi is tiresome, long and expensive but possible if you need that option.

To register your interest email me and I will get back to you with more details

Oh, and…. I have peaked on VAT so have not increased my prices at the moment. Up, down, all over the place they go. I purchased the fabric and made the clothes based on the earlier rate and so will sell it all, for now, at the 17.5%. Your invoice may show it as 20% but the prices have not risen accordingly.

  • Cashmere Simple Dress

It is time to look forward. September always feels much more a time for renewal than January. I do not think it is about school timetables still marking my life as much as moving into a different season. Summer is expansion, open and light. Autumn, which is just licking the leaves and manifesting in the weather, is internal, warmth, containment, preservation and commitment.

As ever, it is my preferred time for my wardrobe. I love all the layers, the stories that come into my mind when I think about “who am I today?” as I open my wardrobe and consider the look for the next two seasons.

I have been working on this collection for several months now, sourcing the fabrics, refining the lines and making sure it all works together.

  • Tea-Making

The best way to make our DEVOTION Teas

Read how to make perfect tea and then got to the tea page to order some.

    Chai For 4.
(I use cows milk for this, although you could use any milk substitute, but with soya, be aware of the milk splitting with the heat. )
1 pint of milk in a saucepan with 3 cardamon seeds, a 2 inch stick of cinnamon, a couple of slices of ginger, crushed with a heavy knife, and two regular teabags.

If you want the tea less milky, adjust with water. Bring all to the boil and keep stirring. Watch the colour coming through until you it is a strength that you like. Add sugar to taste, stir again and strain from a good height straight into the glasses so you get the little bubbles on top. Absolutely delicious!

    Mint tea for 4.
Good mint tea is quick and simple to make. If you live in a big town try the Greek or Cypriot shops, they always have it far cheaper than the supermarkets and may also have the gunpowder tea.

    1.5 pints of water, boiling.
A bunch of fresh mint and either DEVOTION green Guricha tea or gunpowder tea or 1 teabag of everyday tea.
    Sugar to taste.

Put half the bunch of mint (assuming you will end up with about 10 stalks of mint) into the pot, leaves down stalks at the top. Add the tea and sugar if needed. Pour over the boiling water. Wait a minute then stir and pour from a good height into the glasses. It is refreshing and cooling and tastes completely different to dried mint in the herbal teabags. I find one cup is never enough.

Make tea from our DEVOTION teas following the boiling times given on the product page for each tea.
